This wedding will go down as one of my all time favorites. For so many reasons. I absolutely adored this bride. She emanated such sweetness, happiness, and total excitement for her day. She and her mother showed me so much kindness, openness, and respect, and I will forever be grateful for the chance I had to work with them. Leila was the first client I booked after I opened Oak & the Owl. When I met with her and her mother, I left knowing I hadn’t gotten the job. I was self conscious, felt like I flubbed a few times in our conversations, and thought for sure her mom didn’t like me. That makes me laugh now. Now I know her mom is just a bit of a toughie when you first meet her. After you get past that layer, you get to know such a warm, generous, and hilarious woman. Leila is a little different from her mom, softer spoken, with a more gentle nature. The two of them together are a force. Together, they and the amazing team they hired, executed the most beautiful wedding. With nods to the 1940’s, clean, classic, and timeless design with organic details, and with so much love evident in every interaction, this wedding was just incredible. Along with a bridal bouquet I held firm in my cup holder the entire drive… It was such a fun day working with my one of my favorites Twine Events at the always lovely Darlington House in La Jolla. Then, to have photos from Stephanie Williams of This Modern Romance and have it featured on The Wedding Chicks? It doesn’t get much better than that. This post is FULL of photos, so enjoy!
