Casa Romantica & Utterly Engaged ~ Part 3!

Welcome to the third and last post on my Bridal Shower shoot with Twine Events and Lane Dittoe Fine Art Photography! The entire shoot was featured in Utterly Engaged for their March, "Colours of Spring", issue! Our feature starts on page 98 but be sure to check out the entire magazine. The team at Utterly Engaged never fails in putting together stunning and inspirational stories for the bride to be and anyone who loves to look at serious beauty. I am so honored to be a part of such a fabulous publication this month!

This series of photos is from the "Flower Bar" session. I set-up what basically was a bucket shop for the girls to make floral bouquets from. Each flower had a specific meaning for the bride and the ladies were able to pick and choose flowers to have the finished bouquet say something special and inspirational about her pending nuptials and what they hoped for her marriage. We set up the Flower Bar in the Griffin Family Fireside Patio at the beautiful Casa Romantica in San Clemente, CA.

It was so much fun setting up the mini bucket shop. I started my floral design career in an amazing shop in Oakland, CA called Bloomies, and I almost opened one this summer in Laurel Canyon. Even though I know I made the right decision in not moving forward on the shop, this shoot made me a bit nostalgic for what could have been! There's something so relaxing and fun working with flowers in this way, each stem cleaned and ready for design. There's no time in event work to set up like this, you just put the market bunches in water and go!

Doesn't the bride look amazing? The dress is perfect for her and Erica Beukelman from Ten.Eleven Makeup did an awesome job on her hair and make-up. Same with the rest of the pretty ladies on this shoot. They all looked gorgeous.

                     Celosia (Cockscomb) = Burning Love

                       Anemone = Anticipation        Blue Hyacinth = My Love For You Is Ever Constant

Dahlia = Wildness & Spice

Ranunculus = Radiant Charm

 Pieiris Japonica = Love's Wild Card                Maidenhair Fern = Discretion

Gentian = Loveliness & Intrinsic Value

Sweet Peas = Blissful Pleasure                     Stock = Happy Life

This photo shows (along with others) tulips & sword fern. Their meanings are:
Tulip = Declaration of Love      Sword Fern  = Shelter

So let's see... What does her final bouquet symbolize?

"Your radiant and charming love will have you in sweet anticipation for the wildness and spice he is bringing to your married life. Because of your loveliness and intrinsic value he gives you these declarations of love and will hold them close to his heart with honorable discretion."

Wouldn't you love to have each bouquet made for you with such thoughtfulness to it's meaning? It reminds me of the language of flowers from the Victorian era when bouquets were given to impart secret messages. There isn't much need for the secrecy now, but it's still a wonderful notion.

I hope you've enjoyed all 3 posts on our Bridal Shower shoot for Utterly Engaged. We had a wonderful team working together on this and I think it shows in the final product. Thanks for visiting and come back next week for an interior design post on a St. Louis cafe!!

Cheers!

Casa Romantica & Utterly Engaged ~ Part 2!

Welcome to the second installment of my collaboration with Twine Events and Lane Dittoe Fine Art Photography. We put together a photo shoot for a different take on Bridal Showers and it was featured in the March issue of Utterly Engaged! Today I'm featuring our dinner set-up that we placed out on the Denault Family Porch at Casa Romantica in San Clemente, CA. The views were breathtaking and the architectural and landscaped surroundings of Casa Romantica are so beautiful it felt like we were on vacation while setting up ~ it's a wonderful venue and I hope to do more events there in the coming wedding seasons.

We went for a relaxed boho chic vibe and paired one of my favorites, the Ghost chair from Signature Rentals, with a rustic worn white table from Your Rustic Wedding. I think the combination is a cool take on the rustic/vintage feel that is so popular right now. While I love the rustice/vintage style, it's refreshing to try something new and find out what kind of modern pieces will work with that aesthetic. The fact that the historic tiles aren't hidden by the furniture is an added bonus!

I added more hot pink to the dark purple flowers out on the patio and really showcased dahlias and ranunculus. There were also sweet peas, double petaled anemones, phaleanopsis orchids, pieris, and sword and maidenhair ferns.

Some of my favorite shots from Lane Dittoe are the ones of the girls I included in this post. There's something about the quality of light he caught and his composition of the girls that is really interesting and pretty to me. So simple yet the impact of color with the softness of their femininity is striking.

Here's my abundantly flowered cake again, pre-cutting!

Here's some great shots of our gorgeous models and the interior of Casa Romantica. Like I said, it's a beautiful venue for events. If you're planning a wedding in Orange County, it should definitely be on your list of places to visit.

As I mentioned in the first post, you can view the editorial in Utterly Engaged's newest magazine by clicking this link below. Our feature starts on page 98 but be sure to read the whole issue as it's full of gorgeous springtime beauty!!

Thanks for visiting and check back in a few days for the third installment. Happy Monday ~ I hope you all have a wonderful and successful week!

Cheers!

Casa Romantica & Utterly Engaged ~ Part I!

Erica from Twin Events and I collaborated on a spring time photo shoot for Utterly Engaged which was featured this week in their March 2012 "Colours of Spring" issue. It was an honor to be part of such a gorgeous publication and we had a lot of fun putting this shoot together!! There were so so many wonderful photos taken by the incredible Lane Dittoe that I'm going to cover the shoot in a three part blog post, so be sure to visit again next week for the second installment.

The idea behind the shoot was a different take on bridal showers. Along with dinner overlooking the ocean and a flower bar to create meaningful arrangements for the bride to be, we included a spa day with some cake and cocktails! The photos in Part I are from the "spa" session. The shoot took place at the beautiful Casa Romantica in San Clemente, CA and we had the girls relax in the Griffin Family Fireside Patio.

We went with a jewel toned color scheme of dark pinks and purples. I found gorgeous double petaled anenomes at market along with sweet peas, hyacinth, pieris, phaleanopsis orchids, and these awesome variegated purple hydrangeas.

I love decorating cakes and I definitely had a field day with this one. I wanted to cover the gold foil plate the cake was placed on and once I started I had a difficult time stopping. Ha! Along with some of the flowers mentioned above, I included ranunculus and lisisanthus.

Erica of Twine Events worked with Erica Beukelman of 1011 Makeup to create personalized beauty treatments for the girls to take home with them. Amber Moon of Pitbulls & Posies designed all the paper-goods for the shower and had such a cute theme with "Diamonds on the Inside" that she carried throughout the shoot.

Here are some shots of our gorgeous models for the day. I especially love the bride-to-be's dress, she looks amazing in it. And their hair and make-up were perfect. Erica and her 1011 Makeup team did an fantastic job!

You can view the editorial in Utterly Engaged's newest magazine by clicking this link below. Our feature starts on page 98 but be sure to read the whole issue as it's full of gorgeous springtime beauty!!

Thanks for visiting and look back next Monday as I'll post Part II of this Bridal Shower Shoot! Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

Cheers!
